WELCOME TO EAST TENNESSEE!
We welcome you to Beth-Car
and Watkins Chapel United Methodist
Churches! Beth-Car United Methodist Church has been an instrument of
ministry in the White Pine, Tennessee
,
community for over 200 years. It was established in 1787-88, making it
one of the oldest United Methodist churches in east Tennessee. Watkins
Chapel was established in 1878 with over 120 years of ministry in the
Witt community area of south Morristown, Tennessee.
YOU ARE INVITED:
Both churches are small, warm congregations that offer
you an informal, receptive worship service that centers on the Good News
in Jesus Christ, drawing on the Bible as the source of truth as to who
God is and what He has done for us in His Son.
Both churches are easily accessible for travelers
through east Tennessee at Exit 8 on Interstate Highway 81. Watkins
Chapel is approximately 2 miles north toward Morristown, and Beth-Car is
approximately 5 miles south outside of White Pine. (See map and
directions for Beth-Car and Watkins
Chapel)
The pastor, Fred Lehrer, conducts worship services at
both churches every Sunday. The Beth-Car
Church service is at 9 AM, and the Watkins
Chapel Church service is at 11 AM. Both churches provide Sunday
school Bible study at 10 AM each Sunday. You, therefore, have the option
of an early service at 9 AM at Beth-Car or a later service at 11 AM at
Watkins Chapel.
A PRAYER MINISTRY:
Realizing the importance of prayer for all of God’s
people, the two churches conduct a weekly intercessory prayer vigil for
expressed needs with an hour-to-hour prayer chain. Each Tuesday, from 3
PM to 10 PM, members of Watkins Chapel
Church pray on behalf of requested needs. Each Wednesday, from 3 PM to
10 PM, members of Beth-Car Church pray on behalf of requested needs.
If you have a request for prayer and would like to be
remembered weekly, please respond through our Contacts
page. You may also keep us updated on the status of the items
of concern you have shared.
UNITED METHODIST WOMEN:
The women of both churches meet monthly to study and
discuss the mission endeavors of the United Methodist Church. Beth-Car
meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7 PM during Daylight Saving
Time, and at 7:30 PM during Standard Time. Watkins Chapel meets the
third Thursday of each month at 7 PM. I-81 FLEA MARKET:
Each Saturday during the summer, from Memorial Day
through Labor Day, the churches conduct a ministry to the visitors at
the I-81 Flea Market on U.S. Highway 25E just south of Morristown, and
one mile north from Exit 8 off Interstate Highway 81. Bibles, Christian
tracts, and a cup of cold water are available free of charge to those at
the market.
